I haven’t been yet but the yummy noodle place Wagamama has recently opened in Harrogate, so get yourselves down there. Note there’s free green tea with your meal if you ask for it!

Wagamama is a bit like banana in that you start typing it and wonder when to stop…

Who do “Juno” in Wetherby?

Yes that is a very bad pun and I’m a bit late with this one, but Juno is showing at Wetherby cinema this week (7.30pm til Thursday).

The cinema is a local institution and at £4 a ticket it’s difficult to resist topping up with your choice of chocolatey/salty/sweet goodness and you can now even warm those hands with a hot drink – not the speediest contraption though, arrive in plenty of time and send someone in ahead to grab some good seats!

Year of the Rat at the West Yorkshire Playhouse

Running until 5th April at the West Yorkshire Playhouse is Year of the Rat – “Isolated on a Scottish island in 1948 George Orwell is attempting to finish his last masterpiece – Nineteen Eighty Four – before ill health forces him off the island. After the great success of Ying Tong, writer Roy Smiles returns to the Playhouse with a moving and funny journey into one of the great minds of the twentieth century. Featuring Hugo Speer (The Full Monty, Echo Beach) as George Orwell.”

Just to repeat, that’s “Featuring Hugo Speer (The Full Monty, Echo Beach) as George Orwell.”

My last visit to the WYP having been to a production of Barnum with primary school, I was most impressed on a recent visit to see The Grouch. Of particular note – for all productions (as far as I’m aware) under 26’s £6 tickets are available on Monday to Wednesday performances and bookable from one week before the performance. As these are for the best seats available you can grab yourself quite a bargain!

“Once” upon a time at the Hyde Park Picture House

So in the neverland where I got my arse into gear, I’d have tootled along to see Once at the Hyde Park Picture House tonight at 6:30pm. Unfortunately I didn’t, so I’ll have to keep my eyes open, and hope it comes round once again.

The Picture House is a wonderful, one-screen, Edwardian cinema in the midst of student Leeds. A Grade II listed building it retains its balcony and makes cinema-going more of the experience it should be (if you ask me, which you aren’t).
